Another prominent Morris County doctor, William Leddell, learned his
profession from Dr. Ebenezer Blatchley, Jr., of Mendham.
In many families, the practice of medicine became hereditary: sons
followed fathers in the profession for generations. Dr. Ebenezer
Blatchley's father apparently was a doctor as was Blatchley's son, who
with his father served with the armed forces during the Revolution.
