He came to Westfield, NJ in the early 1760's, and built his home on the
lower Springfield Road, now Springfield Avenue, just southwest of the
Echo Lake Country Club property (now) from which he mustered into the
Essex County Militia, Revolutionary War, serving as a sargeant. David and
his wife joined the Presbyterian Church at Westfield, NJ in 1763. In 1763
their son Stephen was baptized, but it is recorded that David and his
wife, and Daniel and his wife, joined the Baptist Church in Scotch
Plains, NJ in 1765. Both David and his wife are buired in the Baptist
Church burying ground at Scotch Plains, NJ.
