Thomas Ball was a surveyor. About 1769 received an app. as Deputy
Surveyor un Wm Alexander (Lord Stirling) Surveyor Gen. of East Jersey.
Was employed by large land owners to locate & sell their vacant lands.
Became financially involved. In Rev. War was orderly sergeant of Capt.
Isacc Gillam's comp & employed in Commissary Dept. Was issuing
commissioner at Newark 1780-81 & Quatermaster 1781-82. In battles of
Springfield & Connecticut Farms.
