DISCLAIMER: We have found many errors and much speculation in most published accounts of our Ball ancestors. Please share your "Documentation" with us whenever possible. We strive to present accurate, reliable, typo-free information -- but don't take everything you see here as "fact"! It is meant to be a starting point for your own research. Please send corrections & additions or any Ball questions to The Big gEDcom. We welcome all GEDCOM submissions that have a line that links into The Big gEDcom.

The Big gEDcom is part of an effort by the Descendants of Edward Ball of New Jersey to combine their individual genealogy research into one large electronic database. The members of this group can all trace their ancestry back to the original founders of New Jersey. Although centered on the descendants of Edward, and the BALL surname, the Big gEDcom includes most of these original North Eastern New Jersey founders. Many of the lines came from Connecticut and people familiar with that area should see some names they recognize.

Started in 1995, the Descendants of Edward Ball of New Jersey is made up of a group of about seventy "internet cousins" - some have been pursuing the genealogy hobby for many years, others have just started. The group welcomes all queries, and hopes that the information presented here will allow people to expand the knowledge of their ancestry.

The Web based version of the Big gEDcom is made possible by using a software package created by Eugene W. Stark called GED2HTML. The Web space has been made available by James S. Altman at www.altlaw.com. The Big gEDcom file itself is currently only available to the group members. The first version was placed on the Web in September '96, it was last updated in July '97.
